History

I have memories of my brother and I spending the days over the summer with my grandmother, when we were children, and my parents were working. Little Grandma, as my brother and I called her, was short in stature standing at 4 foot 10 inches but loomed large with wisdom and love. While staying at Little Grandma’s house I recall her soap operas on in the background, playing jacks, pick up sticks and solitaire but most of all I remember cooking and baking with her. Little Grandma had many recipes that I loved through the years but the most important recipe of all was her peanut brittle.

Little Grandma, with the help of Little Grandpa, made pounds and pounds of peanut brittle every year for Christmas.Grandma would pack her peanut brittle in empty coffee cans which she would then hand out to family and her closest friends. As Little Grandma’s arthritis worsened, she could no longer stretch the brittle and handed the recipe down to me. Over the years I have continued Little Grandma’s tradition of making peanut brittle for my family and close friends, although I made changes to the packaging the recipe remains the same.

I am now starting this company Little Grandma’s Brittle & Toffees to share this tradition with all of you.
